A collection of 30 illustrations about the characters who populate a fictional world of beautiful and bizarre mushrooms.
I created this set of illustrations for Inktober 2018—a global event where artists of all backgrounds make one work of art every day for the month of October. Instead of sticking to the regular prompts, I themed all of my illustrations around a fictional world of fantastical mushrooms and the residents of that magical place.
As a mushroom forager, I've always been fascinated by the fungi world! They have amazing abilities (from mind control to designing subways systems). Learning about mushrooms opens a bit of a secret universe. Every step into the forest can lead to a new discovery, and seasoned foragers can predict what types of mushrooms are around the corner just by observing the trees and the soil. I wanted to bring some of that magic into my artwork here.
